How to hold and pick up guinea pig
Hello everyone so today I am going to do a step by step tutorial to show how to hold and pick up a guinea pig:
- First corner you guinea pigs making sure they have no escape route
- Then gently place your hands just in front of their back legs don't be afraid to hurt them guinea pigs are very tolerant
- Be careful not to push their hair the wrong way they might squeak a lot on your first few tries
- Then scoop them up making sure to support their back and front legs
- Once in the air pull them towards your chest and support their back
- You can either sit down with the guinea pig on your lap or stand up with your guinea pig on your chest
Top tips: If your guinea pigs are not potty trained I would recommend using a towel. If your guinea pigs wriggle a lot I suggest sitting down on the floor so they have more space to move around. Remember if your guinea pigs are young or you have just bought them reward them with a treat to let them know they are doing the right thing.
